My Personal Story
“Yoga has helped me to rediscover myself.”
In 2000, difficult circumstances in my life led me to take up yoga. Looking back, it was my deep yearning for self acceptance and a search for happiness that inspired me to begin my yoga journey.
Initially, I was hooked by the feelings of peace and calmness post-yoga and thrilled by the development of my own physical strength and agility. However, deep down inside, I knew that yoga was more than skin deep. Even after I qualified to become a yoga teacher in 2004, I continue to seek and learn from other inspiring teachers, including Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev (Spiritual Yogi and Mystic, Founder of Isha Foundation), HH the 14th Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh and many others to deepen my knowledge and understanding of yoga and life. These great teachers have dedicated their entire lives to serving humanity and are fine living examples of what they teach.
Through the divine grace of the universe and the kind support of my students, I am privileged to have taught more than 12,000 classes and continue to do what I love.
More significantly, I have come to this simple realisation – that yoga has helped me to rediscover myself and to experience life in a deeper way. I have learnt to be less of the person that I tried to become, to accept my own strengths and shortcomings, to overcome my own limitations and to embrace people and situations that I used to avoid. Most importantly, I have learnt to be a better version of myself.
My journey into yoga has certainly been one of the greatest blessings in my life. As a yoga and meditation teacher, my journey now is to continue to encourage and inspire others to do likewise and to enjoy a life of authenticity, love, joy and mental and physical wellbeing.
I hope that my story and my work will inspire you to take up yoga and meditation and enjoy a wonderful life.
With love and gratitude,
Yvette
